Every Sunday growing up, Grant’s Poppy would welcome family and friends to his home for brunch. The menu would change, but Poppy’s homemade bagels were always present. Poppy welcome anyone into his family, and though they might have been a bit loud and opinionated a times, the food was good and the company even better.

fast forward 22 years

Friends and co-founders Grant and Julia spent many weekends searching Washington D.C. for the perfect bagel bite. There were a few contenders, but none offered the bagel texture and bold flavors they sought. In May 2016, together they made their first bagel and were hooked. In the following months, Julia’s kitchen was perpetually covered in flour as they perfected the recipes. It was Grant who had the idea to make stuffed bagel holes, and Poppy’s Stuffed Bagels was born.

They bought a van, applied to local D.C. farmers markets, and never looked back. They worked tirelessly every day to improve Poppy’s, while staying true to traditional baking methods of boiling and baking.

Poppy’s has come a long way since the truck and farmers market days. A frozen retail product. New flavors - Jalapeno Cheddar, Pizza, and Greek. Mini stuffed bagel holes. But at the end of the day, Poppy’s has and will remain committed to making everyone love their breakfast.
